Winter tyres spend at least half of their life not on your vehicle but in storage. This is why it's important that they are stored correctly to make sure they remain in top condition and live a long and healthy life. Here are a few tips on how to store your winter tyres:
Step one:
Before you do anything with the tyres you should make sure you clean them thoroughly.
Step two:
After cleaning, you should use a screwdriver or a similar tool to remove studs from the profile and protect the steel rims using an appropriate care product.
Any scratches on the aluminium rims can be sealed using a clear varnish.
Step three:
Increase the tyre pressure by 0.2 to 0.5 bar.
Step four:
When storing tyres for a long period of time, they should be kept lying down and not upright to avoid any damage. A great way to store them is on a wheel rim tree.
